Are you ready for a spring adventure? Don't miss out the Stantevant Falls at Santa Anita Canyon! This is the perfect national forest for hikers and adventurers!
Address: Type in "Sturtevant Falls Hiking Trailhead" on google map app.
Hiking Difficulty: Stantevant Falls Trial: Medium with 1.8 miles & Hermit Falls Trial: Medium with 1.5 miles
In order to get into Stantevant Falls, don't forget to purchase your Adventure Pass in advance. Daily pass is $5.00, and annual pass is $30.00. I purchased mine at REI, but you can also purchase the pass at some specific gas stations or the entrance of the trial.

One of the hardest part to get into Stantevant Falls is finding parking spaces. We arrived at 7am, and found that the parking lots were already full. We ended up circling back and parked along the hill.
Tip 1: Come as early as you can. The park opens at 6AM.
Tip 2: Bring an extra pair of socks and sneakers in case you fall into the water while crossing the rivers.
Once you find the parking and ready to start the adventure, you will find there are many trials to choose from other than the most popular Stantevant Falls.

We decided to go to Hermit Falls first then returned back to Sturtevant Falls. Unlike Sturtevant Falls, Hermit Falls is less popular, and the trial is a little bit harder as there are several rivers to cross.
This is our first time visiting the park, so we were actually not too sure where the end of Hermit Falls is. We hiked along the trial for about 1.5 hours and ended our trip at one of the man-made waterfalls because we couldn't find any way to cross the river without getting our feet and shoes wet.

Other than the beautiful waterfalls, the view in the woods are also amazing! As we headed back from Hermit Falls and hiked toward Sturtevant Falls, the sun was finally up and I was able to see the view of the cities and layers of mountains.

Compared to Hermit Falls, the trial to Stantevant Falls is a little bit easier and there are a lot more people. In order to get to the falls, you will have to cross two long rivers. If you have an extra pair of shoes and socks, you can always choose to go in the river instead of balancing yourself out on the log.

Finally, after about 3 hours of hike, you will see the impressive Sturtevant Falls. We came here in March 2019, when there were some rains in January and February, and were very happy to see plenty of water in the falls.

I highly recommend this place if you are thinking to have an one day hiking trip. Even though the hike is a little long, I guarantee you that you won't regret it!
